Name: Jonathan White, DPM
Practice location: Five Rivers Health Center, Dayton, Ohio
How many years have you been in practice? Six years
Who were your mentors? I have been privileged to have many mentors over my short career. Completing my residency at Ohio State, their core podiatrists played a significant role in my training. Dr. Erik Monson, Dr. Said Atway, and Dr. Michael Anthony were all very influential on how I practice medicine. Dr. Marc Greenberg has also had a significant influence on my career.
What do you like the best about your practice? I am currently practicing at a Federally Qualified Health Center. I love working alongside other specialties and being part of a team that treats a vulnerable population. I feel that I am able to have a greater impact by having resources available to assist with social drivers of health impacting patient outcomes.
What do you like to do outside of work? My time is primarily spent with my family and friends, outdoors when the weather permits, or sharing my love of sports.
What is your most significant contribution to your profession or community? I recently started a nonprofit organization, Dayton Has Sole, that provides financial assistance to those in need of shoegear in the greater Dayton region.
What is something people may not know about you?I was involved in a lot of environmental and invertebrate biology research while at the University of Dayton. At one point, I considered pursuing a PHD rather than a career in podiatry.
Professional statement: I am an advocate of preventative medicine and patient education. I believe that conservative management is the foundation of successful surgical outcomes.
