Schedule and Registration


The Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Foundation offers a General X-ray Machine Operator (GXMO) didactic educational program accredited by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).

Courses will be held via GoToWebinar. Course handouts will be mailed the week before the course, and login instructions will be emailed the week of the course(s).  Initial Course registrants are required to personally buy the course textbook, it will not be provided with the additional course materials.

Didactic Initial Course and Re-certification Course:

August 8-9, 2024 Didactic Course - Registration will open May 2024

October 31 - November 1, 2024 Didactic Course - Registration will open August 2024


Clinical Position Course (Digital):

August 10, 2024 Clinical Course - Registration will open May 2024

November 2, 2024 Clinical Course - Registration will open August 2024

What Class Should I Take?


Choose which description fits you to find your correct class. Need help? Call Luci at OFAMF at 614-457-6269.

  • I don't have a license, and I work for a podiatrist: Take the DIDACTIC COURSE and the CLINICAL COURSE, which includes all coursework to qualify you for the test
  • I don't have a license and I work for a chiropractor: Take the DIDACTIC (2-day) COURSE, which is the classroom work. Then you must take the clinical course for SPINE in order to qualify for the test. Unfortunately, we do not offer that course. The Department of Health can help you locate a provider of the course: List of Course Providers.
  • I don't have a license and I work for an urgent care, hospital or other non-specific facility: Take the DIDACTIC (2-day) COURSE, which is the classroom work. Then you must take the clinical course for whichever area you specialize in in order to qualify for the test. Unfortunately, we do not offer any courses other than podiatric-specific. The Department of Health can help you locate a provider of the course:  List of Course Providers
  • I don't have a license and I don't have a job.  If you plan to work in PODIATRY, then take the DIDACTIC COURSE and CLINICAL COURSE which includes all coursework to qualify you for the test. If you don't have a specialty, then  take the DIDACTIC (2-day) COURSE, which is the classroom work. Then you must take the clinical course for whichever area you decide on in in order to qualify for the test.   • I have a license, I just need continuing education hours:  You take the DIDACTIC (2-day) COURSE, this class is open to ALL GXMO's for continuing education credit.
  • I took the didactic (classroom) portion somewhere else and just need the clinical (hands-on). If you work for a podiatrist, or plan to, you take the CLINICAL COURSE, which is the podiatric-specific hands-on course that paired with the didactic course qualifies you for the test. Course Materials


The content and curriculum have been developed by the OFAMF and approved by the Ohio Department of Health, all instruction and handouts are the intellectual property of the OFAMF and may not be duplicated, tape recorded or videotaped.

The required textbook for all registrants taking the Initial Didactic course for initial licensure is the textbook, Radiology Essentials for Limited Practice, 5th Edition by Bruce W. IF YOU ARE AN INITIAL COURSE REGISTRANT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUY THE TEXTBOOK.

*Please note purchasing the textbook is required for registrants taking the course for CE credit. 


GXMO Licensure Requirements


Medical assistants are required to hold a valid GXMO to operate x-ray equipment in the state of Ohio. The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) website features a comprehensive list of steps to take in order to receive a GXMO license.

Course Instructor


Amy Bidlack, BRST (R) (M) is a Clinical Instructor at Riverside Hospital for Columbus State Community College and an adjunct professor at Columbus State Community College. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Professions from Ohio State University and is mammography certified. Amy is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
